When was the moment you KNEW that coaching was your calling?

My Unforgettable Journey from Coder to Coach

Life’s unexpected moments often shape our path in profound ways and sometimes, it takes another’s perspective to reveal our true path.  ๐ŸŒŸ

For me, the pivotal moment in my coaching odyssey and when I recognised Agile Coaching as my destined role was both enlightening and transformative.

Here’s how my story unfolded. ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ

Software Developer Lens

I’d always looked at things through my ‘Software Developer’ lens, where every challenge felt like another piece of code waiting to be cracked and I was fueled by a passion for coding, tackling every hurdle as a challenge in coding. ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

But then, as often happens, life threw me a curveball.

Was I a Software Developer or an Agile Coach?

Then, a singular conversation shifted my trajectory.

A Telling Question

One day, an esteemed coach, whose insights I deeply valued, pulled me aside and posed a simple question which was, “When did you last code?” ๐Ÿ’ฌ

The answer was instant; truth be told, it had been months since I last dabbled in coding.

The Reality Check

Her words were crystal clear when she announced, “You’re more than a ‘Software Developer’ โ€“an Agile Coach.”

Her rationale? ๐ŸŒ

She went on to say, “You invest your time uplifting others. Your attention is on the team and their surroundings. Building products isn’t your mainstay now.”

My Aha! Moment

Her observations resonated with me. I had evolved from coding to guiding without even realising it. ๐Ÿ’ก

The coding universe continued, but I carved a niche in aiding others to code proficiently. While the coding world moved forward, my journey had taken a different turn: I was now more invested in helping others code.

Stepping into My New Role

This was more than just an epiphany for me.   I can say that this newfound clarity was transformative. ๐Ÿš€

It wasn’t about distancing from coding but about embarking on an enriching journey – empowering coders, amplifying team synergy, and fostering the correct settings.

It marked the beginning of a new phase where I wasn’t leaving coding behind but leveraging my experience to guide, mentor, and uplift a new generation of coders.

It was about enhancing team dynamics and nurturing a conducive coding environment.
